memoir 1: japan

''i found many interesting things on how much japan had influenced my days back then. actually not that much, but since this post are meant to recollect everything related to japan, i'll try to find as many as possible. just before all those memories fade away...''

when i was young, my father worked in NEC (Nippon Electronic Company) so he had to go to japan about 1-3 times every year. everytime he went there, we all slept together in my mother's room. nana & jabe slept with mama on the bed. me, mushi & umay slept on comforter. sometimes umay slept with abah's shirt, because she missed him. sweet litte girl, wasn't she? and then, everyday i heard mama chatting with abah through phone. and i still remember when he came back, me and my other siblings waited for his cab eagerly. we truly missed him, but to be honest, our eager was for the chocolates and presents of course ^^

i still remember some of my fav jap chocolates. i didnt know the name, but i do remember how it looked like. hhmm, it was so yummy that i went as far as stole it and even stole it in ramadhan to curik2 bukak puase ( 2 sins at a time! XD ok, dont do this at home kids ). i sometimes had partner in crime: umay & jabe. as for presents, i always got hello kitty(& her friends) stuffs like pencil case, books, pencils, bag, chopsticks and some more i didnt remember. i still have some of those stuffs.

those were the time of rin harikoma, oyuki and moero attacks.. remember the funny techniques in moero attacks? with all the sommersaults & gymnastic.. :P those dramas were showed in the late 80s i guess.. (i'm amazed with my memories) and hey, i do still remember the song in the cassetes when mama tried to learn japanese. and the music box of traditional song sakura too. sometimes we (me, umay & mushi) will dance together with the song. those were memories when i was not more than 6 yeras old. sweet memories.. :)

the first japanese comic i had was mary chan and candy-candy when i was 7 or 8. it was a tragic story, i cried so much after reading it. amazed with the beautiful drawings, i learned to draw comics. there was a year when i draw comics for my classmates and asked for 20cents for everyone who want to read it. surprisingly they all paid me and eager for the next chapter. then came doremon era together with other anime like tomatoman & topo gigio. doraemon was my alltime favourite. we used to have all doraemon movie videotapes & comics. of course, the comics were 'haram' in our house, but we bought it secretly. but the videotapes were in english and my father used it to improve our english. oh, before doremon, there was ultraman, satria baja hitam & flashman (my fav was flashman biru). then when i was about 10 or 11 came sailormoon, dragonball, shin chan & slamdunk.

sometimes abah brought us to halal japanese restaurant. one place i remembered was Ichiban in jaya jusco wangsa maju. i was around 8, and it was udon mee i ordered ( i remembered the bulky mee i ate) and sushi was when i was 10? cant remember. i learnt to use chopsticks since i was small, though it was not influenced by the japanese, but the chinese.

japanese drama wave came back again when i was in high school. i dont know exactly when, but for me, it all started with beautiful life. some dramas i still remember.. with love, friends or lovers, sweet season, ice world, beach boys.. i totally got hooked with jdrama mostly for its scenery and song. but story wise, at that time, i prefered chinese drama. try name any cdrama aired late 90s, i believe i watched it.. :D they filled my days, right after i came backfrom school to right before i went to bed. that was, before i went to boarding school.

the biggest problem was the boy who liked you.
the most pain you felt was when you scrapped your knee.
